Choreography & dance
At one point in the beginning of the process we realised the potential of applying a choreographical strategy on the totality of möte09. By approaching möte09 as a choreographical practice we have observed movement on structural, relational, geographical, ethical and economical levels.
What is choreography to us? In its most condensed form we could say that choreography is the organising of events - i.e. production of movement - which means that everything has the potential to be recognised as choreography. But does that mean that everything is choreography? To us it is important that the sender is thinking of their practice as choreographic and as well that there is an awareness about the context where one is situated.
When does the notion of dance enter the picture? Our short description of dance would be that all movement that include bodies is dance, but in a similar way as mentioned above we believe that there is necessary that the practitioner thinks of their activity as dance. Apart from that we do not have any specific criteria as for how a dance should look like, in relation to e.g. established techniques.
